WhatsApp Business API and Meta Platform Data Use

  • 1) Scope

This section explains how eCount (“we”, “our”, “us”) processes data when customers connect their WhatsApp Business account and use Meta (Facebook) platform features inside our ERP application.

  • 2) Services Covered

This section applies to: WhatsApp Business API messaging (template and session messages), WhatsApp account onboarding via Meta embedded signup / OAuth, related webhook events (message status, delivery updates, and inbound events), template and number management features made available through Meta APIs.

  • 3) Data We Collect Through Meta/WhatsApp Integrations

Depending on enabled features, we may collect and process: Business account identifiers (for example, WABA ID, phone number ID, display number), app-scoped Meta user identifier required for account linkage, access credentials/tokens required to call Meta APIs on your behalf, message metadata (recipient number, message ID, status, timestamps, template name), message content/caption/media references you explicitly send using our ERP, webhook payload data provided by Meta for delivery and status tracking. We do not claim ownership of your business message content; we process it to provide the service.

  • 4) Purpose of Processing

We process this data only to: connect and manage your WhatsApp Business account in eCount, send business communications requested by you, receive delivery/read/failure status updates, support automation/workflow features in ERP, maintain audit logs, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse/fraud, and meet legal obligations.

  • 5) Legal Basis (where applicable)

We process data based on one or more of the following: performance of contract (providing ERP messaging features), legitimate interests (security, reliability, service improvement), legal compliance obligations, your consent where required by law.

  • 6) Data Sharing

We share data only as needed with: Meta Platforms services (WhatsApp Business Platform/Facebook APIs), infrastructure/service providers acting on our instructions, legal/regulatory authorities where required by law. We do not sell personal data.

  • 7) Retention

We retain WhatsApp/Meta integration data only for as long as needed to provide services, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods may vary by data type and customer account settings.

  • 8) Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data, including access controls, logging, and secure transmission practices. No internet transmission/storage system is 100% secure.

  • 9) User Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, users may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal data by contacting us at: [email protected]

Customers can also disconnect WhatsApp integration within the ERP account where available.

  • 1. Meta User Data Deletion (Facebook App Requirement)

If a user requests data deletion via Meta/Facebook, we process that request through our configured callback and status flow.
